Any word on specific modding support? Like what version of 3dsmax will the exporter support? (or even just to be sure if there is one) like we had for RoN.

Any specific news and features on improvements to the scenario editor and scripting features. Many who are used to triggers from the Age series and others were very resistant to use scripting. Anything to help these types of folx make the leap?

The Music was one of my favorite aspects of RoN. How do you think you've fared this time? Still got your music man?

I'll have more for you on modding support and features as we get closer to launch, though I believe most of the information about modding RoL that we're going to gather will be released post-launch.

Microsoft is handling the soundtrack for RoL, and from what I've heard of it thus far, its very immersive and fits the unique environment that the world of Aio presents.

How is the balance testing going?

Decaff or regular?

Balance testing is going quite well! Naturally like with any game, there are a few issues with a couple overpowered or underpowered units, but they are being worked out.

...about the resources, they wont be depleted like in ron?

another question, in the game will be units such as generals, spies or commandos?

Resources will not deplete, just like in RoN. This lets the player focus alot more on strategy rather than the micromanagement of gatherers. In Rise of Legends, there are hero units which can be summoned for a cost in Timonium and Wealth. There are no spies or commandos to my knowledge, but more than enough new unique abilities and units to perform similarly.

Oh, and to the previous question I have more on the soundtrack- It is being done by the same musician that brought you the fantastic Rise of Nations soundtrack, Duane Decker.

How does the unit counter system work? (Unfortunately, I never played RoN so saying it will be like RoN won't answer the question for me)

Think of it as a very advanced form of rock, paper, scissors. Certain types of units excel at killing other types of units, while having a weakness for another particular type of unit. For instance, and just as an example (things are apt to change), Musketeers are good at killing Steam Tanks which are good at killing Clockwork Men which are good at killing Musketeers.

Of course, this is an oversimplification and there are many more factors to consider when formulating a strategy.

I don't have anything new to release at this time about multiplayer improvements, but it is one of our main focuses and is being given a great deal of attention by the dev team. When I have more to share about the multiplayer features, you'll hear it first on the official site and here.

Well, since I've seen a similar question asked of Firaxis devs recently in an XFire chat, I'll ask a nigh identical question here: How is Brian Reynolds? Is he nice or what?

There is a hard population cap currently of 300. From my own experiences with the game, I don't think that its going to be hit very often by players at all. In games I've played vs. other developers, population rarely goes above 85, but I could see a very long protracted game getting up into the upper 100's and 200's.

Believe it or not, things have been so busy around here that I actually hadn't had a chance to meet the man himself until you posed this very question. I was in fact, hesitant to do so for fear of going completely fanboi, which I am glad to say I resisted. Civilization 2 and Alpha Centauri are two of my favorite games of all time, and the idea of meeting the creator in person was a bit daunting.

Despite his status as a true living legend in the field of strategy games, Brian is incredibly approachable and charismatic, and to answer your question directly, very nice. It is an honor and a privelage to be able to work with him.

Yes, but not by a great amount, the border system remains but has been updated and made more intuitive for players.

IIRC the name of the Alim might've been changed. The document that came with the alpha disc said it wasn't final.

Could you tell me what have been or are the most inspiring existing games to the RoL developers (Besides, of course, RoN itself)? Age of Empires? Age of Mythology? Starcraft? Civilisation? Oddworld? Or a FPS even? Or maybe there are specific books or movies? The concept so far seems unique, but still there have to be some existing pieces of art giving inspiration...
